Semi Weekly Reflections

Week 3:

I think one thing in particular that has helped me with my writing in class would have to be the peer review we did. It gives me another perspective of someone reading my work to help organize my writing without making it tedious and boring to read. I could use reviewing from others or just advice in the future to advance my writing or just anything I do in life, cause having more then one opinion on something is very helpful sometimes. I think one thing I would need help on in class would just have to be the pace of homework being released, I think even with the homework’s being given a week to work on, I feel as if It’s still confusing to keep track on. I acquire most of the information I don’t pay attention to by my classmates actually, they are very helpful and keen to help out anyone when they need the help.

Week 5:

The Purpose of my Learning Analysis Essay was to show the reflection of how I got out of my comfort zone. Where the confidence I would never thought I could attain, from all the overthinking thoughts and consistent degrading on myself, stopped, and helped me push forward with my life. The events that were said in this assignment helped me express myself with my peers, I could talk about the people that helped with this process, or just how I could go through some of this by myself. Even some of the stuff I need to work on is still in process to this day, I’m always trying to improve slightly each day.

Week 6:

One of the Articles I’m using talks about the process of the production of the Twin Towers. It explains the materials that were used during the making and also Explains where the design got it’s influence from. I annotated mostly the inspiration’s that the Tower’s came from and also just the simple information on Materials that were used, it’s very helpful when it comes to explaining the Site because I can review the annotations without reading the very large articles again. I would also need to process other details such as how they would have to work around problems such as the Weather and how tall the buildings were.

Week 7:

I would say when it comes to a learning objective, one of the components I have learned was applying information more directly. When a question or a problem is brought up, I can carefully use information that has been given to me to support my claim and bring up more concepts that could further push my claim to another bigger idea. I would say before this semester, when I would give pieces of evidence or information, I wouldn’t use it at it’s fullest and the outcome would be me having extremely weak evidence that seemed to be useless for my argument. Now when I use evidence, not only do I find the best parts of a writing, but I can also verbally back it up with even more arguments and more proof.

Week 8:

The peer review has done MIRACLES, for me. Whenever I reread my own piece of work I never really pay attention as much as I should be. I’m also very bias when it comes to my work, but when my peers are reviewing it, they are NOT afraid to share their opinion on what I need to change. Which ruins my mentality really badly (I’m kidding), but in all seriousness it’s so helpful because there will be small details I didn’t fix and I wouldn’t realize, but with the help of other’s I see it and I can revise my work to be more clear and stronger. Also If I’m confused about something even after class, I make sure to look online to verify that at least I have a good grasp on the idea, without having to struggle to remember it.

Week 9/10:

The research sources I used were mostly Articles, whether it was talking about the past of Radio Row, and all the innovations that were being sold in this very busy neighborhood, or how we commemorate all the lost ones we had during the tragedy of 9/11. These topics help with my Site on the World Trade Center because I will have not only the basic information like how tall the buildings were, the amount of time it took to build, or even how many workers were part of the construction, but I also have information on the amount of materials used, and how they could make working farther up easier.

Week 11:

The rhetorical situation from my Essay was the social lens on how people felt on the World Trade Centers and all the events surrounding it. I will use the impact it had on New Yorkers that either worked on the development of it, or just the impact it had on businesses that were there previously. I will make this possible by going through the history of what was there before and go more and more into the history seeing if there was any big changes that affected people greatly.

Week 12:

My argument of seeing if the production of the World Trade Center affecting people of New York was actually greatly influenced more. The information I was browsing through showed that there was a Neighborhood previous to the building of the World Trade Center called Radio Row. It had a lot going for it such as being a place where business that helped develop the growth of electronics at the time (1920’s), but because of the building of the World Trade Center, that Neighborhood was taken down. Also there was lots of controversies with buildings such as the Twin Towers, people were getting health issues working there from how tall they were, getting people sick and even getting cancer in some cases.

Week 13:

My Research Essay is all the boring things people don’t really read. Let’s be honest, there is probably very and I mean VERY few people who actually read an entire essay in general besides teachers. So the essay was very boring, but with the Multi Model Translation, I made SURE it was really fun so people wouldn’t be so dreaded with the same information that the essay already gives. They both bring the social aspect of how people felt during the tragedies that happened in the World Trade Center, specifically the Twin Towers. Kahoot is really engaging as well, most kids or teenagers love Kahoot so I knew people would love to be engaging in a game like this to learn as well the information I wanted to give.

Week 15:

I will honestly say, that peer review and learning how to use Chicago Style helped me out with my writing. Not only has the Peer Review made me realize that I will always need improving in my work and that it will never be perfect, But I realized that writing will always have different opinions on particular situations. For Example, since my Portfolio was based on the World Trade Center, I said that it really helped with the perspective of bad events giving us resilience, while someone else could be talking about the actual financial/architecture crisis it caused.
