The Author mentions the fact that when it comes to the 9/11 Memorial, it is a sign. The sign of loss, trauma, and tragedy. But this also showed resilience and power, saying even through these tough times we continue with our lives and will make the best of every outcome.

The impact on people when it came to losing the twin towers, not only did this threaten our society’s aspect of feeling safe in the city, but for people who had loved ones or families in the towers must’ve felt deeply affected by it.

I will use this in the end of my writing to show the impact these towers have and how when it was destroyed, killing many civilians in the process, changed the perspective some people who were alive had to experience. A result of this Event.

  1. Bennett, Michael. 2024. “Foundations from History: The Twin Towers.” Foundations from History: The Twin Towers. September 11, 2023. https://www.geoinstitute.org/news/foundations-history-twin-towers

There were a lot of struggles making the towers and there was also lots of resilience in getting the Job done and being able to make one of the most memorable skyscrapers of all time.

This will be used for the actual creation of the Towers, the struggles and the effort people had to make these HUGE towers.

The number of issues there were in the actual building of the Towers was how they had to adapt issues they went against. Especially for how big and heavy the walls of these skyscrapers would be.

The history of what the landscape looked like before the Twin towers were made. There was actually a lot going for it when it came to innovations and expanding newer companies.

Radio Row is a bustling electronics district in Lower Manhattan that exploded from the 1920s to the 1960s. The area is centered around Cortlandt Street. It was known for its shops selling radios, parts, and other electronic devices, becoming a hub for newer technology.

How life was before the idea of the Twin Towers was even produced or thought of, using information about the history of what the land looked like.

4.  History.com Editors. 2019. “World Trade Center, Then the World’s Tallest Building, Opens in New York City.” HISTORY. November 12, 2019. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/world-trade-center-opens-in-new-york-city

The World Trade Center opened on April 4, 1973, in New York City, featuring the Twin Towers, which were briefly the tallest buildings in the world. The complex, designed by Minoru Yamasaki, was an iconic part of the city’s skyline. The towers were targeted in a bombing in 1993 which actually surprised me cause this was still a huge event but it was foreshadowed so much because of 9/11.

This aligns with my project because it’s even more events before 9/11, that was also impactful towards the Twin Towers.

I will use it as general information on all the specific dates of each event that was extremely important to the impact of the World Trade Center.

5. “World Trade Center Facts and Figures.” National September 11 Memorial & Museum. October 23, 2024.

https://www.911memorial.org/learn/resources/digital-exhibitions/world-trade-center-history/world-trade-center-facts-and-figures

This exhibition in the Museum contains essential information about the design, construction, and significance of the World Trade Center. It includes key statistics about the Twin Towers, their architectural features, and the impact of 9/11. The exhibition highlights the site’s transformation over the years, including the memorial and museum. This resource serves as an educational tool, illustrating the legacy and ongoing development of the World Trade Center site.

This aligns with my project because this is the present day with the World Trade Center, and how they are using remembrance of what had happened in the past to remind us to never forget the tragedies and to keep pushing forward.

I will use this source as a piece of information on the actual building of the World Trade Center. This writing talks more on the measurements of the buildings and all the materials that were used during it.

6. Tognini, Giacomo. 2021. “Larry Silverstein, Durst, Oculus: 20 Years and $20 Billion After 9/11, the World Trade Center Is Still a Work in Progress.” Forbes, September 10, 2021.

The main idea of this article is the ongoing rebuilding and redevelopment efforts at the World Trade Center (WTC) site, even 20 years after the 9/11 attacks. Larry Silverstein, who leased the WTC just weeks before the attacks, has been a central figure in its reconstruction, with his company Silverstein Properties playing a key role. The project, which has already cost more than $20 billion, is still incomplete, with some parts like 2 World Trade Center yet to be finished.

This aligns with my project because my project is about the World Trade Center, and this helps contribute to the future vision people have for this space in New York City, and how we’ll advance from these tragedies.

I will use this piece of writing for my use, for purposes of showing the future of the establishments after all these years.
